14 Days Of Love: An Unexpected Love

On the 10th day I bring you a story from one of my closest friends Christina Rivera. Today she’s sharing her story of how she  unexpectedly found love ♥ Thanks so much Christina for contributing an article 🙂

Love. What is your true definition of the word love? Is love just a word you say to someone you are together with? When you are telling someone you love him or her are you just saying it just to say it because you feel obligated to or do you feel it? For a while I have been trying to search for the meaning of love myself because I couldn’t quite grasp the meaning of the word itself. Well maybe I knew what love was and the people who I chose to be with did not know the definition of love. Well scratch that because if I knew the definition of love then I probably would not have allowed half the stuff that happened in my past relationships, but I guess you have to learn on your own and allow your heart to break so that someone else who truly loves you can come and pick up the pieces. To be honest after being in many relationships that have failed I almost had given up on love until I heard the song Dear No One by Tori Kelly.

“But sometimes, I just want somebody to hold

Someone to give me their jacket when it’s cold

Got that young love even when we’re old

Yeah sometimes, I want someone to grab my hand

Pick me up, pull me close, be my man

I will love you till the end

So if you’re out there I swear to be good to you

But I’m done lookin’, for my future someone

Cause when the time is right

You’ll be here, but for now

Dear no one, this is your love song”

This song taught me that patience is key; you don’t need to waste your time looking for love because love will find you. It taught me not to lose hope. Just because I had more frogs than prince charming did not mean that he wasn’t out there somewhere. When I least expected it POW! LOVE came knocking on my door (not literally but you guys know what I mean). Anyhow, one day I decided to go to Walgreens with two of my friends for who knows what reason. I don’t think I had bought anything that day, but I ran into a guy who I graduated with in high school (we didn’t talk much in high school). When I was leaving he was coming in, we saw each other, said hi, hugged then kept it moving. My friends and I went to the car and stood in the parking lot for a couple of minutes, I can’t remember the reason but I think one of my friends was showing us something on her phone. He came out of the store and went to the red box to get a movie when he was finished he noticed that we were still in the car and came up to the car. I rolled my window down and he asked me for my number. I believe he contacted me either the same day or the next day, but when he texted me I would only either give him one word responses, taking forever to write back or just not replying at all. He would ask me out on dates all the time and I would not reply or find some excuse not to go until one day I just figured I’d just go. Going on a date with him was the best decision I made because he is such an amazing guy! On our first date he took me to the movies and he was very respectful, when he brought me home he asked for a kiss and I thought that was the most sweetest gesture ever because nowadays guys don’t even ask so I thought that was so sweet, but any who now we are together and I am the happiest camper ever!!! Just like Tori Kelly said in her song Dear No One “but I’d love to have a soul mate and God will give him to me someday, and I know it’ll be worth the wait”, and let me tell you… It was definitely worth the wait!

Sometimes I take love for granted. I have been married 25 years and just used to having hubby there. After reading this I am thinking back to how sad I was before I met my hubby. Everyone deserves love. Diane Sullivan

  • Love sometimes comes unexpectedly. We sometimes we need to open walls and take risks for love to come in. This is such a sweet love story and how they ended up together after several attempts.

  • Wow! you never know when or here you will find love. This is a really cute story.

What a sweet set of lyrics. I think it’s wonderful when people wait for the right person instead of jumping right in to something. There’s definitely a huge difference. The way you met your guy is fun!

I spent 13 years married to a man I truly didn’t love. I stayed for our kids. Which was the worst reason to stay with him. Once he passed, I met Chad. I am happier now then I’ve ever been. We have a huge family, and huge amounts of stress at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s that feeling of being home. That is what I think love is. That feeling of being home.

What a heartwarming story! My hubby and I have a fabulous love story too. Great time of year love stories!

That is extremely sweet. I have been telling my best friend for years to stop looking for love, it would find her in its own time.

  • Unexpected love is the best. My husband came back into my life when I least expected love and wasn’t looking for it all!
