It’s Okay To Fail

It’s okay to fail. These are four little words I have to remind myself of daily. I’m the first to admit that I am afraid to fail. I’m afraid that all my hard work now isn’t going to result in anything. I’m afraid that I sometimes make decisions that will hinder my plans for the future. The thing is that fear of failing shouldn’t stop us from living. It shouldn’t stop us from doing that one or multiple things we are passionate about. However, fear is paralyzing. It makes us settle for what we think is best or settle for what we think we deserve. It's Okay To Fail

The thing is that we should be embracing failure. Failure shows that we tried. It shows that we took that risk. It shows that we were vulnerable enough to step outside of  our comfort zone and test our limits. It shows that we are determined enough to go after what we want.

Failure can also be a seen as a step backwards for some, but the most important thing is that you tried. Life is all about giving yourself multiple chances to get things done and failure enables us to see our mistakes and correct it. Failure gives us that determination and that drive to work even harder to accomplish our goals. This is why I believe that it’s okay to fail. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to not be where you want to be right now in life. It’s all okay because we were given life to do something extraordinary but it’s up to us to make moves to find out what our purpose is. So live life a little, make mistakes and remember that it’s okay to fail.

    • Yes! I am constantly learning this lesson! It’s so hard but failing definitely makes your skin thicker!!!

  • Failure taught me about success. Without failure, you won’t know what success feels like or even what success is. Failure also helps you put into perspective what really matters to you. I’ve had a few major failures in my life that completely changed my view on who I am and what I’m passionate about. This is a great, thoughtful post! Thank you for sharing.

Such a great post! I’m so hard on myself a lot of the times and have a hard time dealing with failure. A random example happened when I went for an eye exam a few days ago and my doctor started laughing at me during the lens test. He said, “You know it’s okay to get some of these wrong, right? It’ll help me help you, in fact.” I hated to get any of them wrong and I’m pretty much blind without my contacts so it was a losing battle.

    • Aww thank you so much! And omg I thought I was the only one who struggled at the eye doctor. I get so many wrong and I always feel like such a failure but in the end it all works out because the optometrist always gets the prescription right!

Without failure, how can you truly appreciate success?!

  • I’ve always been afraid of failing, because I don’t want to get hurt. This post came at the perfect moment for me. I needed to read this. I’m so so hard on myself and I get down on myself if I fail. I love the positive spin on failing you showed me though! Thank you!

  • Failure is so hard for me to accept. Maybe it’s this way for everyone, but I get so down when something fails. There have been so many great DIY ideas that I try to execute and I really fail. While I know another idea will come up, it still totally bums me out when I can’t get it done the right way.
