The best thing we can do for ourselves is to appreciate who we are. Love means nothing unless we can love ourselves first. Loving ourselves should be engraved in our being. Each day should be like a new opportunity to better ourselves. A new opportunity to uplift ourselves and the people around us. It’s okay to be a little selfish though. Take a little extra time in your day to do “me” stuff. Don’t get to wrapped up in what could have been instead focus on what you can do from this point on. Today my lovely readers, I want to share with you all a little pick me up. A little something you can take with you after you have read today’s post. Enjoy “7 Things You Should Be Saying To Yourself Everyday.”
It’s officially February. January was a relatively slow month for me. The days were long but the month flew by. January was actually a good month. A lot of good came with the new year. School is going great even though this sociology paper due in a couple of weeks is kicking my butt. I got invited to NYFW and I can actually go this time because work isn’t getting in the way. I’m still deciding on what I should wear because since it’s cold in New York and I want to be stylish but also comfortable and warm. I’m so nervous though. I’ve never been to a fashion show lol. For today’s blog post i want to recap January and just share with you all some of my favorites from last month. Enjoy xx ♥
I haven’t done a music on repeat since last summer I think and there has been so much good music out recently. I have been listening to a ton of Justin Bieber recently. His latest album Purpose is just so good lol but the singer I’ve been recently obsessed with is Alessia Cara. Woah this girl Alessia Cara is just so talented. Her music is so real and her voice is just so bold and soulful. I am also in love with Jojo’s newest music. From her Tringle to her more recent LoveJo EP woo it’s hitting me in all the right spots lol. Anyway let me stop talking because you guys are here for the music not my ramblings lol! View Post
Have you ever had those moments when you realize how fortunate you are to have the simple things in life. This morning as I stood in my tub taking a warm shower I started thinking about how fortunate and lucky I am to be able to have clean, warm water everyday to shower with. It’s so crazy how the little things spark those little moments of gratitude and realizations in your life. A lot of times I go through my day not even thinking about the things I have and how fortunate I am. This past week really made me think about how much I take for granted. Like three years ago I didn’t have a car so I had to either take the bus or a cab to work now I have my own car and I’m able to get from point A and B without having to worry about missing the bus or spending a lot of money on cab fare. Like sometimes I sit in my car while driving through New York and I start having these mini moments of excitement because I have my license after doubting myself in the past after I failed my test twice. I also have mini moments of excitements when I jump into bed and my bed is warm, fluffy and I am comfortable. I also have those moments when I’m just so grateful that my mom and dad are still alive and in my life. I am the first to admit that sometimes I tend to not care about or put much thought into issues when they don’t directly affect me but this past week when I heard about the water issue in Flint my heart broke for the residents in that community. It’s just so sad that today in 2016 in the United States communities have to deal with unsafe and unhealthy water conditions. It’s just so unfair.

What are some of the little things in your life that you are thankful for?
With ABC Family changing its name to Freeform in the new year comes new television shows. One in particular is Recovery Road and it so happens that Hulu has the first three episodes available to watch. After watching all three episodes I am a speechless, emotional wreck. Recovery Road is just wow. I’ve honestly never watched a show that captured the gripping reality of what the disease of addiction really is like. It showcased the reality of what addiction does to someone. It completely changes a person almost making them unrecognizable. It also showcased how blind and ignorant someone could be if they don’t understand how addiction and recovery works. Recovery Road tells the story of a group of people from all different walks of life who share one thing in common they are all battling some form of addiction and it’s so interesting to see how they are all dealing with it in their own way. While watching Recovery Road I honestly didn’t feel like I was watching a scripted television show. The acting felt so real, so raw. Each and every characters’ storyline just hits you with a dose of reality. Recovery Road is the definition of good television. It’s definitely a show that will get you thinking. It will spark conversations and you will definitely want more. The first three episodes were GOLD and I can’t wait for more. ABC Family/Freeform you guys have a winner.
Watch The First Three Episodes of Recovery Road on Hulu or you can watch Recovery Road on January 25th on Freeform at 9pm.
